1. Purchase a Floating Paddle
When buying a paddle, it’s crucial to choose one that’s designed to float. Most SUP paddles are constructed from lightweight materials, such as carbon fiber, fiberglass, or plastic, which naturally float on water. Be sure to check the product specifications before making your purchase.
2. Use a Paddle Leash
A paddle leash is a useful accessory that attaches your paddle to your wrist or to the board itself. If you drop your paddle or fall off the board, the leash ensures that the paddle doesn’t drift away or sink to the bottom.
3. Regular Maintenance and Inspection
Regularly inspect your paddle for cracks or damage. Any breach in the material can allow water to seep into the paddle, potentially causing it to sink. If you notice any damage, it’s best to repair it immediately or consider a replacement.
4. Utilize a Paddle Float
