Best Spots to SUP in Denver
Ridge recreation center– If you have never paddled before this is the perfect place to learn the ropes! 5280 Paddlesports offers 75-minute lessons on a Saturday in their very own pool so you don’t have to be worried about anything. However, this is only available November through to April so make sure you find some time to learn/practice you SUP skills before it is too late.
Cherry Creek reservoir– A stunning lake with plenty of room for you and your friends to have fun and improve your paddle boarding skills on. If you don’t have your board don’t worry about it Rocky Mountain Paddleboard have a SUP rental program which is very affordable at $20 an hour. This reservoir is also accompanied by a lovely beach; this could be a great day out for the whole family and a surprisingly fun way to burn a few calories.
If you want to make your trip even more of an adventure there is a camp site in the Park; if you chose to stay for a couple of days you could find yourself doing all sorts of activities such as Horseback riding, Jet Skiing or hiking around the reservoir. All of which would be unforgettable experiences, all the sites have Wi-Fi as well so you could always leave the kids glued to the screen while you go off and make some romantic memories.
Chatfield State Park– After the 2015 flood which destroyed the state park and cost them $110,000 they have done a very good job of recuperating after that loss and are now back at full strength. Because of some incredible views of the Mountains you can catch whilst board we would have to say this spot is one of the best in/around Denver. There is also a Campsite at Chatfield State Park if you decide you need more of a thrill there is the option to stay overnight and try some different activities the following day!
