The BIC Ace-Tec 10’6 might not be in production anymore, but that hasn’t stopped it from holding a place as one of the most respected all-around solid SUPs of its time. Originally released under the BIC Sport line (now rebranded as TAHE), the Ace-Tec series was known for combining durability, versatility, and surf-inspired shaping, all in a bombproof, lightweight construction.
I spent a good amount of time on this board back in its prime, and I still have a soft spot for it. For beginners and intermediate paddlers who want a board that can cruise lakes, handle small surf, and even support some yoga flow, the Ace-Tec 10’6 always delivered.

Built for Versatility
The board’s 10’6″ length and 31.5″ width hit that perfect sweet spot between stability and manoeuvrability. It’s steady enough for newcomers to get comfortable but responsive enough for turning and carving in gentle waves. I often used it on both flatwater and coastal breaks, and it never felt out of place.
The thermoformed plastic shell made it incredibly tough without being heavy. I’ve hauled mine over rocky beaches, banged it against a few docks, and it still looks great. It’s one of the few hard boards I never worried about damaging—and that peace of mind made me paddle more often.
Details That Count
The EVA deck pad gave just the right amount of grip and comfort, and I appreciated the option to switch between a single fin or a tri-fin setup thanks to the FCS fin boxes. That said, the side fins were never included in the original package, which was one of the few downsides at the time—especially for paddlers who wanted to push performance in surf.
The dual leash plugs were a nice touch too, giving flexibility for those who surf and want to attach their leash according to stance. It’s a minor feature, but one that surf-focused riders actually appreciated.
Why It’s Still Worth Grabbing
Although the Ace-Tec has since been discontinued, it still stacks up well against many modern SUPs in terms of quality and performance. Its rugged build, timeless shape, and dependable handling mean it continues to be a great option for riders who want a hard board they can grow into without babying.
Where to Buy the BIC Ace-Tec 10’6
Since the Ace-Tec isn’t part of BIC’s current lineup (now under the TAHE brand), you won’t find it in retail shops anymore. The best place to pick one up today is on eBay. You can often find well-cared-for used boards at a great price, and because they were built to last, many are still in excellent condition. Just double-check the listing for included accessories, since paddles and fins weren’t always part of the original deal.
If you spot a BIC Ace-Tec 10’6 for sale and it’s in good shape, it’s still absolutely worth considering, especially if you’re after a durable all-around board that can handle a variety of conditions. It’s not packed with extras, but its core design and build quality have stood the test of time.
This board may be a discontinued classic, but it’s still got plenty of adventure left in it.
