Roc SUP Activities
This SUP is an all-round paddleboard, suitable for fishing, touring, and exploring. The front of the craft has a large tie-down section at the front. The kit comes with a waterproof bag, which protects your phone, your wallet, and anything else you want to keep dry. And the bag also fits into the tie-down.
Roc Technology
UV tends to age and crack synthetic materials. Since the craft will be in the sun a lot, it is logical to have a coating to protect the SUP’s shell. A protective coating over the top-side of the craft prevents premature degradation due to exposure to UV.
To further prevent air leaks, ROC’s SUP exterior has three top and side layers, to protect the interior from punctures. These top and side walls also add rigidity to the shape of the craft.
And to make the SUP feel solid, the interior is a complex of support baffles. The support baffles are a composite of drop-stitch weaves. The weave prevents the SUP from bulging in the middle – from inflation pressure.
Scale
A portable craft, at less than 18 pounds, with the strength of a solid board. After inflation, this is a full-size SUP at 10 feet, and it will carry an adult up to 275 pounds. This is also a wide SUP, at 32 inches — offering great stability and making it easier for learners to balance on.
Roc Inflatable Paddle Board Accessories
The SUP comes in a backpack, around the size of a large cool box. When you need to travel with the SUP, the craft rolls up into a small package. The ROC can stay in the bag for months at a time, leaving no damage.
The kit comes with a paddle, which breaks down into three pieces and packs it away into the storage bag with the SUP. An ankle-leash comes with the board, so if you fall off, you will stay attached to the craft. And for better control on the water ROC has added an extra fin, which is easy to secure to the bottom of the board.
The board takes around 10 minutes to pump up and comes with a compact high capacity pump to ease the process.
Pros:
A rigid-frame design.
The kit comes with everything you need to get out on to the water.
UV protective coating.
Easy to store and transport.
Comfortable non-slip coating.
Cons:
The paddle will sink if you drop it in the water.
Takes time to inflate with the handpump.
Conclusion
The ROC is a great starter kit, which has all the pieces you need to get going, and the size makes it easy to store in the winter months. The design is good, but there are some issues with the valve needing a lot of tightening after inflation.
When the board is on the water, it feels good and solid. You could mistake the ROC for a rigid board if you did not know any better. This is a perfect SUP to take on camping trips or even taking it out after a long day behind a desk.
